MESA - MICROSURGICAL EPIDYDIMAL SPERM ASPIRATION

In this method, sperm cells are removed micro-surgically from the epididymis using a fine cannula. As the amount of sperm obtained using this method is usually very limited, it’s also possible to remove the sperm directly from the testicle (= TESE).

TESE – TESTICULAR SPERM EXTRACTION

The direct removal of testicular tissue can either be performed through percutaneous testicular puncture (meaning through the skin) or through open testicular biopsy (where the testicle is surgically opened). Usually, several tissue samples are taken and examined under the microscope to identify the presence of vital, mature, fertile sperm.
