Cryopreservation
What is cryopreservation?
The term cryopreservation refers to the freezing of cells in liquid nitrogen (at - 96°C).
Thanks to the use of a special cryopreservation method, it is possible to freeze and store embryos and sperm over an extended length of time. According to the Austrian Reproductive Medicine Act, fertilized egg cells and semen may only be stored for a maximum of ten years, until revoked by either the female patient or male patient.
