Osteopathy
Diagnosis and Treatment: One and the Same
Flexibility and internal balance can be improved through tactile stimulation and targeted muscle exercises. Osteopathy is an accepted alternate medicine method of treatment that has already been in widespread use, particularly in patients suffering back- and joint pains. Additionally, this method may prove helpful in couples trying to conceive.
The term “Osteopathy” has Greek origins
"Osteon” means “bones”, and "pathos" means “disease”. This method, designed to stimulate self-healing, was founded at the end of the 19th Century by American physician Andrew Taylor Stills. It’s centered around the fact that the organs in the human body are supported and protected by skeletal muscles. If the joint- and muscle systems are properly aligned, then connective tissue health is increased, and the circulatory, lymph, and digestive systems can all function properly. However, if skeletal muscles are impaired (due to injuries, bad posture, stress, or psychological strain), then localized pain or disruption of vital organs, the circulatory, respiratory, and the nervous systems may result.
Osteopathy uses a variety of techniques, ranging from gentle massage to jerky movements, in an attempt to rejuvenate bone and joint function, relax the muscles, and to restore the healthy rhythm of bodily organs and fluids. Pain is reduced, balance is restored, and self-healing is reactivated. Osteopathy is recommended for fertility patients to ensure proper function of all joints and organs in the pelvic area. Whiplash and slipping and landing on the tail bone may induce menstrual irregularities or even infertility.
Regarding infertility, it is important to note that the female pelvic area contains highly sensitive sensors, and even minor changes in homeostasis can disturb their function. Osteopathy recognizes this interference, corrects it, and is therefore able to restore it back to its normal state.
