Every person has their own unique genetic code. A person might be a carrier of genetic discrepancies, i.e. translocations - the exchange of chromosome parts between two or more chromosomes, without ever feeling the effects themselves. However, these discrepancies have a profound impact on fertilization.

Genetic testing of a couple wanting to have a child is crucial. Chances of success and the risk of abortion or genetic diseases during artificial fertilization can be determined with the help of this testing.

The genetic laboratory is overseen by University Professor Dr. Markus Hengstschläger, an expert in human genetics (also Director of the Department of Medical Genetics in the AKH-Clinic Hospital at the Medical University of Vienna).
Experienced, certified medical technical assistants (MTAs) are conducting research in the field of preimplantation, prenatal and postnatal diagnostics.
